AI Engineer — Intern (4 months, in-office)

ethereal labs is building AI-powered consumer products and next-generation interactive storytelling experiences. The company is an early-stage startup (11-50 employees) based in Bengaluru, focused on creating reliable, production-grade AI systems for real users.

ethereal labs is hiring an AI Engineer Intern for a 4-month in-office internship in Bengaluru. You will work directly with the founder and founding engineers on the core AI layer of the product, building reliable, measured AI systems that real users depend on — not just notebooks and demos.

• Build production AI systems on the core AI layer of the product
• Work with LLMs, RAG, orchestration frameworks, and agentic workflows
• Implement prompt engineering, structured outputs, and tool calling
• Contribute to reliable, measured systems used by real users
• Learn and apply concepts around guardrails, evals, observability, cost and latency tuning
• Collaborate closely with the founder and founding engineers

• Strong Python and/or TypeScript
• Real hands-on LLM experience (something non-trivial you’ve actually built and shipped)
• LangChain or LangGraph (or equivalent orchestration framework)
• Working understanding of RAG (embeddings, vector search, and why naive RAG fails)
• Prompt engineering, structured outputs, and tool calling
• Comfortable with APIs, async code, and reading source when docs fall short
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and ability to evaluate correctness of outputs

• 0-1 year of experience preferred
• Strong technical depth and fast learning ability valued more than resume length
• Location: Bengaluru (in-office)
• Relocation allowed
• Duration: 4 months
